For a few years now, "blockchain" and "cryptocurrency" have gone hand-in-hand. The blockchain concept is complicated, and involves constant-growth record lists linked together and secured through cryptography (think of the Cryptex from The Da Vinci Code). Each block of the chain envelops a hash pointer relating to the previous block, as well as transaction data and a timestamp.

The idea of a blockchain isn't relegated to the infant-era cryptocurrency revolution. Massive worldwide corporations are beginning to incorporate blockchain technology into their systems. The technology behind the blockchain is far more valuable on a global scale than any market capitalization of cryptocurrencies.

Among recent high profile targets was a public Wi-fi at a Starbucks, where suspicious code was found that turned visitors' devices into money makers for crooks.

Starbit contro l'ignoranza che crea solo vittime.

Lo sostiene fin dalla sua fondazione e ne ha fatto la leva principale di attenzione sociale della propria mission. Ora anche Randy Gage (*) affronta l'argomento  sul numero del 24 novembre di Business for Home con l'articolo:

In ogni campo, la mancanza di conoscenza espone le persone a credere a cose non vere, a farsi illudere, a diventare vittima inconsapevole. In una parola a subire violenza.

La cosa si applica anche alla blockchain (e la sua applicazione più famosa, le cryptomonete), che è una innovazione sorprendente che molto influirà sulla vita di ognuno di noi. Ma che può essere strumentalizzata da persone di pochi scrupoli che ne usano il fascino per illudere chi non è informato.

Starbit ne è talmente convinta che ha focalizzato la propria mission sulla informazione/formazione di base rivolta alla gente comune che non è esperta, anche utilizzando strumenti non convenzionali per diffondere in modo più facile la conoscenza.
Ovviamente Starbit non vende prodotti finanziari, nè criptomonete sotto qualsiasi forma, ma solo strumenti di informazione/formazione culturale..

Mentre Starbit nella sua attività si rivolge alle persone comuni, alla massa delle persone, Randy Gage  in questo articolo si rivolge sopratutto ai networkers che possono anche loro cadere vittime della sindrome delle strumentali promesse su una illusoria blockchain; probabilmente non rendendosi nemmeno conto dei rischi anche penali ai quali vanno incontro. Anche in questo caso è la mancanza di cultura che li mette a rischio, altrimenti saprebbero bene che una criptomoneta non può essere un prodotto e che non può generare reddito programmabile in qualche modo, presupposti indispensabili per incentrarci una qualsiasi iniziativa commerciale che paghi compensi alla rete. Ed in molti casi non si tratta nemmeno di una vera criptomoneta, non essendo pubblica e quindi non scambiata sul libero mercato.
